hnRNP A/B Is Excluded from the Mitochondrial Cloud
A stage I oocyte was stained with MitoTracker Green to visulaize mitochondria (left panel). The same oocyte was also incubated with antibody specific for hnRNP A/B, a protein that binds to the localization element of Vg1 mRNA, which was detected with a secondary antibody labeled with Alexa Fluor 568 (center panel). A merge of the two confocal images demonstrates that a region excuding hnRNP A/B corresponds to the mitochondrial cloud (right panel). The mitochondrial cloud is used for mRNA localization through the "early" pathway; Vg1 mRNA is transported through the "late" pathway.
